After a defensive mix-up in Real Cruzeiro FC's zone, Graham Gareau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Amaral came out of the goal and Graham Gareau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Real Cruzeiro FC's Ivo Amaral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Real Cruzeiro FC from getting a goal against them. The coaching staff of Real Cruzeiro FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fábio Pontes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Real Cruzeiro FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 76th minute. Penalty! In the 78th minute there was a penalty for Varennes. Lyman Peacock stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ivo Amaral. 5-0.
