The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Felix Montes's late challenge caught a Grimório's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Montes helped the player get up and apologised. 2 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Julio Vera, was totally fooled by Grimório's Erkki Leesment, who 3 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 7th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. 9 minutes into the match, Grimório's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Uudo Lant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erkki Leesment in the 15th minute of play. In the 18th minute Erkki Leesment shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Kajar Jaama managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grimório's supporters rose to their feet, but Kajar Jaama was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thomás Carneiro hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emanuel Holm to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 57 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th minute, Janar Kirst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uudo Lant. Uudo Lant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Agustín Saelices charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agustín Saelices the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erkki Leesment, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Cristian Sancho's late challenge caught a Grimório's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Uudo Lant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 83rd minute of play forced Grimório's goalkeeper Uudo Lant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uudo Lant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 92nd minute of play. Uudo Lant was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Grimório throughout the match.
