In the 16thth minute of the game Fernando Carvalhal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luis Andino might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kenneth Kvarnström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luis Andino ran back to his position shaking his head. Kenneth Kvarnström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Kenneth Kvarnström in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Snett★inåt★bakåt's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Snett★inåt★bakåt getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Fredric Åström hit a great ball. Kenneth Kvarnström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 37th minute, which Kenneth Kvarnström however easily saved by the left post. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Cristian Sancho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kenneth Kvarnström. The goal made the score 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fernando Carvalhal made a kick off. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 52 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Luis Andino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kenneth Kvarnström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kenneth Kvarnström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Snett★inåt★bakåt's Kenneth Kvarnström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 58th minute of play. After 59 minutes Snett★inåt★bakåt's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Kenneth Kvarnström quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 65th minute of play forced Snett★inåt★bakåt's goalkeeper Kenneth Kvarnström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth Kvarnström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 71 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 96th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ecuador had played much better football throughout.
