In the 20thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Elite Azulgrana's Dionisio Ondino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 20 minutes, Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Elite Azulgrana's Dionisio Ondino tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Pastor Sagrario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Elite Azulgrana defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dionisio Ondino. The Elite Azulgrana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dionisio Ondino should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Dionisio Ondino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Elite Azulgrana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Lesardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 68th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dionisio Ondino was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After some careless play in the Elite Azulgrana defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dionisio Ondino. The Elite Azulgrana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dionisio Ondino should have stopped the shot. In the 88th minute, Felix Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Dionisio Ondino. Elite Azulgrana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-8. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Dionisio Ondino made a huge save. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
