Luz Tejedor scored 1-0 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Paulo Mazza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 詹俊 á Bø, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 63rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emmanuel Reyes kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. The supporters of Peru booed when Wellington Phoenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Pedroso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Paulo Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. If Zé Carlos Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Paulo Mazza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. In the 79th minute, 詹俊 á Bø left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wellington Phoenix fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Wellington Phoenix's Wellington Phoenix was substituted for 詹俊 á Bø. 85 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Gallo came free, but Luiz Paulo Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
