The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Gaona got free with Ernesto Marquez in the 2nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute, Joel Gaona ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ernesto Marquez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Ernesto Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 10 minutes F.C. BARCELONA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Joel Gaona got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ernesto Marquez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Tafalla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 15 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Leonard Januszewski came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonard Januszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Marquez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute of the match, Joel Gaona tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ernesto Marquez saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ernesto Marquez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 21st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leonard Januszewski in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro Valladares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ernesto Marquez. Ernesto Marquez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. 33 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ernesto Marquez. Alberto Tafalla showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ernesto Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josep Quijana in the 41st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ernesto Marquez was out of position in the 45 minute of play, and Joel Gaona capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Joel Gaona really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0.
F.C. BARCELONA's Jonathan Samuelsson was substituted for Sandro Valladares. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 67 played minutes F.C. BARCELONA got a freekick which was hit by Edorta Adán. Ernesto Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. 79 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of F.C. BARCELONA's Ernesto Marquez. Ernesto Marquez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 85th minute, F.C. BARCELONA's Jonathan Samuelsson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-1. The audience was convinced that Lautaro Mancebo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Marquez was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. In the 89th minute, Alberto Tafalla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 7-1 when Lautaro Mancebo sped through F.C. BARCELONA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ernesto Marquez. After having played for 94 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Mexico players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
