Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alvar Bagge went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvar Bagge, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvar Bagge in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvar Bagge in the 17th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Patrik Örtlund in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to CRUSADERS getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Torbjörn Stephansson hit a great ball. In the 24th minute Lars Vennersten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrik Örtlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Puig could shoot a difficult shot in the 30th minute, which Tommy Tinglöf however easily saved by the left post. In the 37th minute of the match Lars Vennersten sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. 0-3 became the score in the 38th minute when Alvar Bagge elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 46th minute Alvar Bagge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 47 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the CRUSADERS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Patrik Örtlund got free with Benito Sanz in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 76 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Alvar Bagge came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Efrain Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Efrain Moruga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Amedeo Visintin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 85 minutes, Patrik Örtlund made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Patrik Örtlund put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. CRUSADERS's Tommy Tinglöf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Puig in the 92nd minute of play. Alvar Bagge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere.
