When Wiliam Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Irreal Madrid's protests and gave Wiliam Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. Wiliam Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Irreal Madrid's Luiz Gustavo Leão. Luiz Gustavo Leão was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Irreal Madrid's Luiz Gustavo Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 15th minute of play. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Irreal Madrid getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Dráusio Domingues hit a great ball. Jaime Pardo struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Luiz Gustavo Leão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Doriva França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlos Augusto Capixaba hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Hector Covarrubias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luiz Gustavo Leão was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doriva França to make the kick off. With a little luck, Irreal Madrid's Luiz Gustavo Leão got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Leão having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Pardo got free with Luiz Gustavo Leão in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luiz Gustavo Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 61st minute of play. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Gustavo Leão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Pardo in the 66th minute. When Paraguay's Jaime Pardo in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Irreal Madrid's goalie prevented a goal. In the 69th minute of the match, Jaime Pardo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Luiz Gustavo Leão was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 71 minutes, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Primitivo Escribano in the 73rd minute of play forced Irreal Madrid's goalkeeper Luiz Gustavo Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Irreal Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Covarrubias came free, but Luiz Gustavo Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luiz Gustavo Leão. That made the score 0-6 after 76 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hector Covarrubias got free with Luiz Gustavo Leão in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jaime Pardo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Luiz Gustavo Leão firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luiz Gustavo Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 85th minute of play. Luiz Gustavo Leão was a little too slow when Hector Covarrubias got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 0-7. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Leão having to interfere. The supporters of Irreal Madrid booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Zoido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benjamim Neto took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-7. Paraguay's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
