Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcial Lordi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcial Lordi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Marcial Lordi quite easily take care of the ball. RIVER's Marcial Lordi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save RIVER from getting a goal against them. After 84 minutes RIVER's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Ecuador's Felix Montenegro getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 87 minutes into the game, Giovanni Lenhardt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RIVER's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to RIVER getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. RIVER's Marcial Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 89th minute of play. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pipo Benedetto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1.
