Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heiko Som read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Newman in the 35th minute of the match. Mariano Lacasa scored 4-0 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Heiko Som, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Francisco Carballar hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heiko Som read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Gustavo Anatibia in the 88th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the game, Chile's Guillermo Fontirroig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Heiko Som made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Newman, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Chile had played much better football throughout.
