The supporters of La Acade booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Mcdonald didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Osvaldo Cantero got free with Marco Day in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marco Day was a little too slow when Osvaldo Cantero got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cassius Byrne made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 52nd minute of play forced La Acade's goalkeeper Blas Aritza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute of the match, Edward Mcdonald got a very nice opportunity to score, but Blas Aritza was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 60 minutes, Cassius Byrne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. USA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cassius Byrne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, La Acade's Blas Aritza got control of the ball when Cassius Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, La Acade's goal looked a bit too open when Monty Rogers came free, but Blas Aritza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 69 minutes had been played when some careless play by La Acade's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Despite this Blas Aritza quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo Cantero's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marco Day was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game.
