Yahia van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Portalupi in the 8th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Artemio Argoitz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yahia van der Saar. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. In the 15th minute Damaso Xacintu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kauan de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yahia van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Portalupi in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clayton Gol in the 17th minute of play forced Chester Bennington's goalkeeper Kauan de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Clayton Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kauan de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chester Bennington's Kauan de Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Gol in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute Clayton Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kauan de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Sheriff's Clayton Gol nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kauan de Senna made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Renato Portalupi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sheriff eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
