Dariusz Adamski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Zorita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Abelardo Bernabel notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dariusz Adamskis short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Ricardo Zorita to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save El Salvador from getting a goal against them. Ricardo Zorita was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dariusz Adamski showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 20 minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toro Halland in the 51st minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dariusz Adamski might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricardo Zorita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dariusz Adamski ran back to his position shaking his head. Luis Rubio hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute of the match Centeno got a corner. El Salvador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joãozinho Quartiero ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Gogo Clodio heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toro Halland in the 85th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the game, Centeno's Joãozinho Quartiero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 10-0. Centeno made a substitution. Eugenio Ixidor replaced Abelardo Bernabel. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Centeno fully deserved thier win.
