The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Socjopaci:s goal. Socjopaci's Bartlomiej Jaroch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Socjopaci from getting a goal against them. Piotr Pincoski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. The Ecuador manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Socjopaci to win.
