Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Berganza in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juliusz Bury prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Legia Warszawa 【L】 defense, Alex Cambeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juliusz Bury. The Legia Warszawa 【L】 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juliusz Bury should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Legia Warszawa 【L】 getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Herbert Konopka made a kick off. Walery Koczara's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
