If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléberson Ortiz kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. André Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 28 minutes into the match, Ravenclaw F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but André Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilvan Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Axel Tasis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. André Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ravenclaw F. C.'s Kléberson Ortiz quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 43rd minute of the game. 47 minutes into the match, Ravenclaw F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but André Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 59th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ravenclaw F. C.. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilvan Zonta in the 72nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilvan Zonta in the 77th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Costa Rica supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Costa Rica would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
