Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Axel Tasis got the match started through his kick off. George Bodenheimer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but George Bodenheimer slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Bodenheimer in the 12th minute of play. After 13 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. In the 14th minute Bodo Jentzsch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, George Bodenheimer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. George Bodenheimer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. In the 19th minute, George Bodenheimer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when George Bodenheimer scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 4-0. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Bodo Jentzsch might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bodo Jentzsch ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Ralph von Hompesch zu Bolheim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Ralph von Hompesch zu Bolheim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by George Bodenheimer in the 47th minute. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 47th minute. In the 49th minute of the match Danny Holz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for George Bodenheimer to strike the kick off in the second half. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 55 minutes into the game, George Bodenheimer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 58th minute. After 62 minutes, Albert Kiefer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stanway and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 62 played minutes Stanway got a freekick which was hit by Albert Kiefer. In the 65th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Danny Holz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Stanway booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucien Gernsback took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Fred Bruckmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa in the 70th minute of play. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling George Bodenheimer in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 80th minute, George Bodenheimer made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Lautaro Puig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Fred Bruckmann made a huge save. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Bodenheimer in the 90th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 94th minute. 97 minutes into the game, Stanway's George Bodenheimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Costa Rica players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Stanway.
