The audience was convinced that Lautaro Mancebo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carel Van Hermenghem was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martial Vrijdag, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carel Van Hermenghem narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carel Van Hermenghem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martial Vrijdag, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Endre Austnes to strike the kick off in the second half. Carel Van Hermenghem came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Luca Rouco hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Hayden Burley made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Edmund Keyes hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Lautaro Mancebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carel Van Hermenghem having to make a save. In the 74th minute of the match, Lautaro Mancebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carel Van Hermenghem was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carel Van Hermenghem having to interfere. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Carel Van Hermenghem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. With a little luck, Stewe's Carel Van Hermenghem got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 84 played minutes Stewe got a freekick which was hit by Edmund Keyes. In the 92nd minute, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. Mexico's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Stewe had won, even though Mexico had held more of the ball.
