The supporters of Atlético Villa Gesell booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Rudolfo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Bingen came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. Atlético Villa Gesell's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
