Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joel Gaona ran back to his position shaking his head. Roman Pitin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. After 5 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Ramazan Mirza. The supporters of S.C. Potentia booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Macos Graciani didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute of the match, Adam Messi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dante Lacasa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mathijs Tevreden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 13th minute of play. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roman Pitin in the 16th minute. The corner ended in Roman Pitin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa did a great save. After 18 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Erik Rensenbrink. 21 minutes into the match, S.C. Potentia's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Mathijs Tevreden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. Mathijs Tevreden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 25th minute of play. After 36 minutes S.C. Potentia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Roman Pitin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, S.C. Potentia's Tiaguinho de Sousa got a free kick in the 40th minute. The supporters of Mexico booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Pitin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roman Pitin made a kick off. Mathijs Tevreden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Pitin in the 55th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mathijs Tevreden firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 59th match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marian Tufescu to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Mathijs Tevreden in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel Gaona in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mathijs Tevreden saved S.C. Potentia from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 65th minute of play forced S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Mathijs Tevreden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Macos Graciani made in the 67th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Joel Gaona. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Messi in the 71st minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Pitin in the 74th minute of the match. Roman Pitin scored 1-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Tiaguinho de Sousa fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.C. Potentia's protests and gave Tiaguinho de Sousa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 82nd match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiaguinho de Sousa to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute, Joel Gaona sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and S.C. Potentia's Mathijs Tevreden didn't even have to move. S.C. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
