Pedro Manzanares made an important save on a dangerous shot by 詹俊 á Bø in the 24th minute. Luiz Paulo Mazza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Wellington Phoenix's 詹俊 á Bø slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Manzanares. That made the score 3-0 after 28 minutes of play. In the 34th minute Abram Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by 詹俊 á Bø in the 36th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Montenegro in the 39th minute of play forced Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Mikolas kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when 詹俊 á Bø made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abram Sarmiento in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Paulo Mazza saved Wellington Phoenix from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Zé Carlos Dias put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Wellington Phoenix's attentive Luis Mikolas managed to snatch the ball when Orlando Tafalla made a throw-in in the 59th minute of the game. Luiz Paulo Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Wellington Phoenix made a substitution. Luiz Fernando Tróia replaced Tomasz Waldoch. In the 64th minute of the match Colombia got a corner. Wellington Phoenix's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Axel Montenegro ran over to the corner to take the kick. 66 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's 詹俊 á Bø sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Axel Montenegro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 70th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Colombia's Abram Secada was substituted for Axel Montenegro. Wellington Phoenix made a substitution. Wellington Phoenix replaced 詹俊 á Bø. 84 minutes into the match, Abram Secada dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luiz Paulo Mazza, 4-2. Luiz Paulo Mazza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ignacio Mastache's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Luiz Paulo Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Mastache in the 89th minute of the match. Luiz Paulo Mazza made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Abram Secada sent off a good shot on target. Colombia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
