In the 15th minute Roberto Ocampo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Mariotti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Guillermo Mariano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dietbald Munderloh scored 0-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Cardozo in the 39th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dietbald Munderlohs short, quick shot in the 63rdth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Mariotti breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The long shot by Peter Larsfält in the 66th minute really tested Jonathan Ferrant's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Dietbald Munderloh struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dietbald Munderloh in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. After 98 played minutes Dietbald Munderloh could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 0-4 into the left cross. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Real Piazza 1982 eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
