When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Tonton Eren sped through Mexico's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. After 31 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Leoz. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Klement Bryk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Klement Bryk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wojtek Sokol, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. In the 65th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigi Buffon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ajax booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Rouco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wojtek Sokol in the 80th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tonton Eren in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tonton Eren in the 90th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute Wojtek Sokol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
