Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Rolando Noboa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Achille Albanesi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 15th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Achille Albanesi saved S.S.C. NAPOLI from getting behind. After a rather tough play, S.S.C. NAPOLI's Diego Vargas got a free kick in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than S.S.C. NAPOLI throughout the match.
