Nguyễn Thanh stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Marcos Cotilla. 1-0. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Cambeiro couldn't finish the play. Felipe Ros didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Huế's Placido Paul nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 44th minute of the match Abraham Alguacil shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lê Binh showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Huế's Lê Binh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 48th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Placido Paul was the one to do the kick off. Trần Nghiêm-Minh kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. A hard shot by Abraham Alguacil from long distance, 54 minutes into the match, got Lê Binh's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Lê Binh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 56th minute of the match. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Placido Paul in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Panama booed when Huế was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belchior Caetano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. Placido Paul recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Panama's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
