Ray De Lauw had in the 10thth minute some difficulties stopping Mariano Lacasa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Chile's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hanot Perdices was slow to take the kick. During this time Vetusta's players had a chance to rest. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ascencio Quintas, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ascencio Quintas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andresito Sacristán made in the 21st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ascencio Quintas immediately put the ball in play. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ascencio Quintas, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 40thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vetusta's Ray De Lauw was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ascencio Quintas in the 42nd minute of play. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ascencio Quintas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Orlando Casaus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Ray De Lauw made a huge save. In the 57th match minute, Vetusta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolás Rua to maneuver through the defense. When Mariano Lacasa came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mariano Lacasa couldn't finish the play.
