Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michel Batistuta in the 19th minute of the match. Roman Matai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. In the 48th minute Michel Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Michel Batistuta in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When STAL ST WOLA's Michel Batistuta in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 86th minute. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roman Matai breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 94 minutes, Slawomir Kajder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. STAL ST WOLA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Slawomir Kajder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
