With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Domingos Distiratsu saved Emesz Barracuda FC from getting behind. Jimmy-Floyd Pinezas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Domingos Distiratsu was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half Honduras were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

György Vermes was slow to take the kick. During this time Emesz Barracuda FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Honduras's goalie and right to Roland Takács. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Honduras's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jimmy-Floyd Pinezas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
