An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Sotomayor in the 4th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the game, FC Smolenice's Iván Sotomayor nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Fernandino got free with Matej Bohuš in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Moises Fernandino came free with the goalkeeper in the 10th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Matej Bohuš could save by the left post. 11 minutes into the game, one of El Salvador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrich Jánošík, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The supporters of FC Smolenice booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abram Luque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lorenzo Yepes hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. If Jonas Ekelund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iván Sotomayor in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Zorita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 28th minute of the match FC Smolenice got a corner. El Salvador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jonas Ekelund ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Marco Tamayo hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Henrich Jánošík notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Róbert Ujlacký sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iván Sotomayor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iván Sotomayor to strike the kick off in the second half. Marco Tamayo charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marco Tamayo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Smolenice booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Tamayo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonas Ekelund was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Smolenice's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of El Salvador's goalie and right to Henrich Jánošík. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. El Salvador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Smolenice's Iván Sotomayor slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 0-7 after 82 minutes of play. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michal Pachl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87thth minute of the game Iván Sotomayor who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Iván Sotomayor put it in 0-8 from a short distance just to the right of Ricardo Zorita. Marco Tamayo hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. When the match was over FC Smolenice could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than El Salvador throughout the match.
