Sergio Rochet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Anacleto Gaizkine scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. After 27th play minutes Helge Pihlberg shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. Helge Pihlberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sergio Rochet was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. The dogs had played much better football throughout.
