An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 7th minute of play forced ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ's goalkeeper Róbson Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Berganza was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 10th minute. Panama's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Alex Cambeiro hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the game, Isidoro Sarmiento recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Róbson Arósio. Isidoro Sarmiento showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 21st minute of play forced ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ's goalkeeper Róbson Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duda Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gugu de Toledo in the 24th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Abraham Alguacil sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Róbson Arósio threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Abraham Alguacil this time. Pedro Luís Rosado hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 33rd minute of play forced ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ's goalkeeper Róbson Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abraham Alguacil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Róbson Arósio made a huge save. In the 44th match minute, ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juvenal Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Berganza to strike the kick off in the second half. Róbson Arósio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 53rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Duda Peixoto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. After 58 played minutes ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ got a freekick which was hit by Juarês Toledo. In the 64th minute, Duda Peixoto reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Cotilla. The goal made the score 2-2. Róbson Arósio came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento. But to his dismay, Isidoro Sarmiento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Saraiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gugu de Toledo charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gugu de Toledo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 74th match minute, ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gugu de Toledo to maneuver through the defense. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Duda Peixoto sent off a good shot on target. If Miguel Miralles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cambeiro. In the 84th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Róbson Arósio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Róbson Arósio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Miralles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 90 played minutes ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ got a freekick which was hit by Gugu de Toledo. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Róbson Arósio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. A collision led to ㄈㄩㄥㄗㄙ getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Cleiton Leite hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Panama players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
