After 24 played minutes BENFICA UNITED got a freekick which was hit by Porfírio Chagas. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomé Soveral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 31 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Porfírio Chagas who took care of the corner kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Tomé Soveral in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 36 minutes of play, BENFICA UNITED's Tiago Domingues made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Ioritz, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Zé Augusto Soares hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Venezuela's Patricio Costa quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Porfírio Chagas, made in the 46th minute of the game.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Douglas Costa made a kick off. Ignacio Ioritz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 52 minutes into the match, BENFICA UNITED's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Tomé Soveral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Douglas Costa could shoot a difficult shot in the 78th minute, which Jonathan Ferrant however easily saved by the left post. Tomé Soveral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, BENFICA UNITED's Douglas Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. After 95 played minutes BENFICA UNITED got a freekick which was hit by Anderson Hoffmann. When the match was over BENFICA UNITED could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Venezuela throughout the match.
