After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Semi Merdan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Beyaz Zenciler's supporters rose to their feet, but Semi Merdan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The referee gave Rüştü Cangiray a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrey Shevchenko's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. The supporters of Beyaz Zenciler booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute of the match Cemalettin Onkal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Halil Can Bahadıroğlu, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
