Tomé Soveral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of the match. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tomé Soveral. BENFICA UNITED's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Douglas Costa made a kick off. Tomé Soveral made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tomé Soveral firmly grabbed it by the left post. BENFICA UNITED's Tomé Soveral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save BENFICA UNITED from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignacio Ioritz in the 71st minute of play. After 73 played minutes BENFICA UNITED got a freekick which was hit by Ádám Lang. In the 74th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomé Soveral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in BENFICA UNITED's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomé Soveral came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Tomé Soveral made a huge save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, BENFICA UNITED's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Tomé Soveral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Douglas Costa's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. After 86 minutes of play, BENFICA UNITED's Anderson Hoffmann made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! 92 minutes into the game, Ramiro Travassos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BENFICA UNITED's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 92 played minutes BENFICA UNITED got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Travassos. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago Domingues came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
