The audience was convinced that Brent-Jan Blanchaert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Jannes Van Meenen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Cazalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Jannes Van Meenen yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Brent-Jan Blanchaert scored 1-3 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A throw-in in the 95th minute of the game was made by Lieven Voet with Karl De Mesemaekre as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert got a free kick in the 96th minute. Uruguay's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
