The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of The Old Boys booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Uruguay players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. The Old Boys were winning 0-5.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulino Sayvion stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when The Old Boys's Isidro Gartzi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched The Old Boys eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
