Lyle Coppack made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Ediberto de Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Francisco Carballar heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Carlos Mei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Thiago Pliego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lyle Coppack showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After 82 played minutes Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely got a freekick which was hit by Patrik De Roost. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lyle Coppack was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. 95 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Lyle Coppack was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Chile's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
