Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 34th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Carlos Simões in the 42nd minute of the match. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Régis de Queirós could save by the left post. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute of the match Palmeiras got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tarcisio Reis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Waldemar Jacinto was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iustin Bungeanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Iustin Bungeanu took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Jønsson in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita was extremely unlucky when he, in the 73rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernt Jønsson in the 77th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Jønsson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Régis de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
