Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. José Carlos Simões started the match with the kick off. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 3rdth minute, when Palmeiras's Iustin Bungeanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Régis de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós. Régis de Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 12 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Régis de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléberson Neiva to maneuver through the defense. Palmeiras were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tarcisio Reis took the corner. Régis de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute, Iustin Bungeanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Régis de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 46 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Luke Clist. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Palmeiras made a substitution. Bernt Jønsson replaced José Carlos Simões. The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Régis de Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute. Régis de Queirós made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 60th minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho came free and shot a quick shot against goal 69 minutes in the game, fortunately Régis de Queirós had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 71 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Régis de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Palmeiras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Régis de Queirós saved Palmeiras from getting behind. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Régis de Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Régis de Queirós made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. In the 86th minute Bernt Jønsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Régis de Queirós was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Daniel Zorita fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. In the 95th minute, Daniel Zorita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
