In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Juvenil Sport Club's goalkeeper Wilson Gonçalves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Panama were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Juvenil Sport Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Abraham Alguacil took the corner. Miguel Miralles hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 15th match minute, Juvenil Sport Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basílio Lira to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Juvenil Sport Club booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Gonçalves having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Basílio Lira was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Panama's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
