But to his dismay, Axel Tasis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Aaron Alcocer charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aaron Alcocer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 18th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. If Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After 33 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the ....... players grew even worse after the yellow card. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reha Vaha in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Alexander Carballo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ....... the free kick. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Alexander Carballo hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute, Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliseo Noboa was the one to do the kick off. After 50 played minutes ....... got a freekick which was hit by Kahraman Turan. After a defensive mix-up in .......'s zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ahmet Orhan Usal came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 57 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zafer Erokay. The referee felt a red card was in order, 59 minutes into the game, when Axel Tasis put in a rough tackle. .......'s Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 60th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Costa Rica. After 69 played minutes ....... got a freekick which was hit by Recai Ersayın. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu in the 79th minute of play. Aaron Alcocer scored 2-1 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ahmet Orhan Usal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zafer Erokay's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zafer Erokay helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when ....... was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zafer Erokay didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Noboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ahmet Orhan Usal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of ....... booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Costa Rica were victorious despite being under pressure from ....... for much of the match.
