The referee ignored Junction City FC's protests and gave Haroldo Bonifaco a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th match minute, Junction City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haroldo Bonifaco to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 17th minute of play forced Junction City FC's goalkeeper Mahieddine Djeballi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Mahieddine Djeballi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Junction City FC's Mahieddine Djeballi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Mahieddine Djeballi. Junction City FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Haroldo Bonifaco in the 54th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, Junction City FC's goalkeeper Mahieddine Djeballi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Mahieddine Djeballi made a huge save. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haroldo Bonifaco, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Mahieddine Djeballi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 71st minute. 72 minutes into the match, Junction City FC's goalkeeper Mahieddine Djeballi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Mahieddine Djeballi in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. In the 76th minute, Haroldo Bonifaco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Mahieddine Djeballi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Junction City FC's Haroldo Bonifaco in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mahieddine Djeballi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
