Danny Grønnow went to the cornerflag to take it. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Balázs Sebes in the 19th minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Dida Martins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th minute Cintya Palacios shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cintya Palacios in the 29th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Hoberg United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dida Martins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice moves Balázs Sebes could shoot a difficult shot in the 36th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. In the 39th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. 42 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hoberg United the free kick. After 42 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. After 47 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Martins having to interfere. 55 minutes into the game, Camilo Gisbert threw the ball into play from the sideline. Hoberg United's Claudio-Paul Pirinchev quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio-Paul Pirinchev in the 55th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Arias's late challenge caught a Hoberg United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Martins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cintya Palacios, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hoberg United's Jimmi Imtiaz was substituted for Randy Bastard. The throw-in from Luis Andino in the 95th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Hoberg United's Claudio-Paul Pirinchev.
