FCSB CUENCA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Ecuador made a substitution. Diego Mancebo replaced Felix Montenegro. Tzanko Shtrapulyov kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Berenguer Tolosa. Berenguer Tolosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 31st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berenguer Tolosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Berenguer Tolosa was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Marcio Carreira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 2-2 in the 34 minute of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Francisco Sanches in the 40th minute. Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, FCSB CUENCA's Marcio Carreira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcio Carreira in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FCSB CUENCA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Samuel Dracena in the 54th minute. Berenguer Tolosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Mancebo got free with Berenguer Tolosa in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Marcio Carreira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Berenguer Tolosa made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 71st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berenguer Tolosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 74 minutes, João Francisco Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FCSB CUENCA's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Americo Olivar struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FCSB CUENCA. After some careless play in the FCSB CUENCA defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Berenguer Tolosa. The FCSB CUENCA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Berenguer Tolosa should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcio Carreira in the 92nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcio Carreira in the 95th minute of play. Ecuador played a much better game than FCSB CUENCA and deserved their victory. The FCSB CUENCA players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
