A collision led to ....... getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Kahraman Turan hit a great ball. Arcan Ekinci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 11th minute. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Ahmet Orhan Usal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu in the 20th minute of the match. When Raşit Kanat fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored .......'s protests and gave Raşit Kanat a yellow card for diving instead. If Arcan Ekinci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zafer Erokay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute, .......'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Axel Tasis fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot. .......'s supporters rose to their feet, but Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th match minute, ....... was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Recai Ersayın to maneuver through the defense. Lautaro Puig's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ahmet Orhan Usal firmly grabbed it by the left post. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu made a kick off. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 59th minute, when Arcan Ekinci scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 1-4. Ahmet Orhan Usal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 70 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of ....... booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 84 in the game by Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. If Arcan Ekinci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abdurrahim Şahinoğlu got free with Benito Sanz in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match was over ....... could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Costa Rica throughout the match.
