NAPOLI's Anselmo Longo got a free kick in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Edmondo Lepori had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edmondo Lepori was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 14th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, S.S.C. NAPOLI's goalkeeper Carter Di Nino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abraham Alguacil. Tomas Berganza might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carter Di Nino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Berganza ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in S.S.C. NAPOLI's zone, Isidoro Sarmiento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carter Di Nino came out of the goal and Isidoro Sarmiento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aaron Barrios lost his temper 23 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 22 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Panama! Marcos Cotilla had in the 25thth minute some difficulties stopping Anselmo Costantino's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Ciccio Moscatelli sped through Panama's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciccio Moscatelli in the 32nd minute of the match. Ciccio Moscatelli made in the 34th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Adriano Giannotti immediately put the ball in play. In the 35th minute Angelo Mariotti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carter Di Nino came out and tried to block the shot, but Tomas Berganza slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 39th minute. After 42 played minutes S.S.C. NAPOLI got a freekick which was hit by Ciccio Moscatelli. In the 44th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carter Di Nino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Berganza's late challenge caught a S.S.C. NAPOLI's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Berganza helped the player get up and apologised. In the 46th minute, Tomas Berganza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Angelo Mariotti stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Angelo Mariotti took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Marcos Cotilla to make any attempt to save it. The audience cheered when Abraham Alguacil's long shot passed Carter Di Nino's right side. It was 2-3, 56 minutes into the match. S.S.C. NAPOLI's Carter Di Nino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 60th minute of play. After 61 played minutes S.S.C. NAPOLI got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Longo. In the 62nd match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Berganza to maneuver through the defense. Edmondo Lepori could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. In the 67th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carter Di Nino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, S.S.C. NAPOLI's Ermanno Scarinci got a free kick in the 70th minute. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carter Di Nino came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Panama's Tomas Berganza. But to his dismay, Tomas Berganza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bianco Giannico during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bianco Giannico kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. When Isidoro Sarmiento came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isidoro Sarmiento couldn't finish the play. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Berganza took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carter Di Nino. Carter Di Nino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3.
