In the 7th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ola Lund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, The Skates's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Jens-Ola Lund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Jens-Ola Lund didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Jens-Ola Lund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 23 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jens-Ola Lund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when The Skates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Bugajski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jens-Ola Lund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
