Eduardo Vargas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. If Orlondón Marileo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Eduardo Vargas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. When Jonathan Venegas fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Jonathan Venegas a yellow card for diving instead. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute of the match, Eduardo Vargas tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 46 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Curicó-Unido the free kick. After 46 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Eduardo Vargas scored 3-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 56th minute, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. The referee ordered Jose Correa off the ground. The supporters of Curicó-Unido booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hipolito Angeloni in the 61st minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hipolito Angeloni's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. When Camilo Gaos fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Camilo Gaos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the match, Román Hoefler notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
