Alain Palencia lost his temper 36 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 36 minutes into the game, one of Melandru de Cenero:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Andrea Perez had in the 37thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrea Perez. Andrea Perez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Andrea Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 40th minute of play. After 41 played minutes Melandru de Cenero got a freekick which was hit by Nunez Urtzi.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Xurdin Pena was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 50th minute. With a little luck, Melandru de Cenero's Andrea Perez got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Melandru de Cenero's goalkeeper Andrea Perez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Xurdin Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melandru de Cenero's supporters rose to their feet, but Xurdin Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Melandru de Cenero's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
