In the 87th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mariusz Bejgier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Herminio Emmanuel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Herminio Emmanuel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2.
